In a bid to provide a well-equipped health facility and affordable shelter for Lagosians, the administration of Babajide Sanwo-Olu had commissioned new homes and health facilities in Badagry, Lekki and Eti-Osa at the wrap of the first month of 2021.

The Surulere housing project that was commissioned on Wednesday, January 21, produced 132-units apartments at Iponri area and another 84 house units at Ikota, along Ajah Corridor, Lekki phase II.

The house project that was named after the former Governor of Lagos State that conceived the idea, Babatunde Raji Fashola, was launched five days after a similar project was commissioned at Idale, Badagry.

The Akran of Badagry, De Wheno Aholu Menu Toyi I, led traditional rulers and the residents of his community to grace the opening of the Badagry General Hospital’s School of Anesthesiology, a 110-bed Maternal and Childcare Centre (MCC) and the 252 units of two bedroom flats to accommodate the people of Idale community.

To further ease access to the Badagry General Hospital, Sanwo-Olu announced the construction of the 5.5 kilometer road that leads to the public hospital.

There are also laboratory, radiology, pediatrics and immunisation departments.” Commissioner for Health; Prof. Akin Abayomi, said the Badagry MCC was immediately activated for operation after its completion last November, disclosing that the facility had already delivered healthcare services to over 3,000 outpatients and 600 children with 49 successful caesarean deliveries.

While expatiating the benefits of the housing project, Commissioner for Housing; Hon. Moruf Akinderu-Fatai, said the provided shelter had security and comfort features, such as streetlights, water treatment plant, central sewage treatment plant, strong perimeter fence and good road network. This housing scheme, he promised, will provide a 600 affordable housing units to workers and their families.
