With much commitment to raising leaders, which will fit into dynamic global society in the 21st century, Olashore International School, established by accomplished Banker, one time Managing Director of First Bank of Nigeria and late …of Iloko Ijesha has continue to keep alive the vision of his late founder.
Established in 1994, on 60 acres of land, Olashore International School is a co-educational school which offers high caliber education in a wide range of subjects at Junior Secondary, Senior Secondary and a University Foundation Programme in partnership with Lancaster University.
Over the past 20 years, the school has succeeded in creating a community of world class services around the school including a first class hostel, a golf course and Leadership training centre that all combine to give the school a unique identity. The school is particularly appealing to discerning Nigerians at home and abroad, as well as expatriates residing in Nigeria, who desire a school with a strong value system, demonstrable track record and a clear sense of purpose.
The late Kabiyesi who in his life time was a formidable leader of leaders built the school on the values of academic excellence, discipline and leadership. This tradition has continued under a no less accomplished leader and son of late founder,Prince Abimbola Olashore.
Prince Abimbola Olashore has continued to lead the management to operate with the philosophy that change is a constant factor in life and has help to strategize its education needs to encourage students develop leadership skills to excel in a change oriented environment. Leadership, which is embedded in the fabric of the school, has remained one of the key qualities that make Olashore International School graduates stand out
Recently the School organised for Year 7 to Year 11 students “The Social Change Project Presentation”, which is part of the signature leadership programme. The programme which was anchored by a United States based consultant, Mr John- Ubong Silas, was organized, with task for each group of students to devise a service project addressing a societal issue, make presentations, and a panel of esteemed judges would evaluate them based on their presentations.
The projects were assessed against the quality of students’ research, and the sustainability of the project. According to the Principal Derek Smith, “In the rapidly changing and increasingly complex global society that we live in, we believe that there is a need to develop students with the mindset and capacity to lead and deal with this change.
This is something that we as a school, Olashore, have taken on as one of our key responsibilities to our students.” Similarly, the Chairman, Board of Directors, Prince Abimbola Olashore, reiterated “The future of Africa nay the world depends on the connections made between leaders at a young age and their ability to share ideas, identify opportunities and build dynamic organizations.
To achieve this, children need to be given structured leadership training as early as possible and the opportunities to apply the skills learnt.
